Common questions

How do I delete my account and data?

In the Wakes iOS app, open Profile → Delete Account. This removes your profile, @handle, friends, and paddle history. Your account is shared between the app and the web, so deleting it in the app deletes it everywhere. You can also send a deletion request through the form above and we'll take care of it for you.

Why doesn't my lake have a depth map?

Depth (bathymetry) data comes from Minnesota DNR lake surveys, and not every lake has been surveyed. Where data exists, the web shows a 2D depth map and the iOS app adds a rotatable 3D view.

Where does the lake data come from?

Lake facts, fish surveys, and depth maps come from the Minnesota DNR. Water clarity and impairment status come from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's water-quality assessments. Weather in the iOS app is powered by Apple Weather; weather on the web is powered by Open-Meteo.

Paddle Mode isn't tracking my location

Paddle Mode needs location access. On iOS, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wakesand make sure Precise Location is on. In the browser, allow the location permission when prompted — if you previously denied it, re-enable it in your browser's site settings.

I found wrong or outdated lake information

Data is refreshed from state sources, but lakes change and records lag. Send a bug report through the form with the lake name and what looks wrong, and we'll get it fixed.

Does Wakes cover lakes outside Minnesota?

Not yet — Wakes currently covers Minnesota's ~10,000 lakes and 35 state water trails.
